Rebecca asks: (2008-05-13 20:34:24)
If I connect our Pure Legato II located in the lounge to AQ wireless speakers in the kitchen, how easy would it be to switch between a) sound in the lounge but not in the kitchen b) sound in the kitchen but not in the lounge and c) sound in the kitchen and the lounge? I don't want to replace the Legato speakers, but don't want to have to fiddle around too much every time I want to change the combination of sound/no sound...
Chris says:
If you connect the Wireless speakers to the line output on the back of the Legato 2 and have the legato set to line level output (rather than variable operation) then the speakers can be controlled independently, so all the options you want are easily accessible using the volume controls on the legato and speakers.

hi im interested in buying these to be used when listening to music through my laptop, do you have any images of the adaptor which would go into the headphone socket of my pc? im wondering what it is like size wise and wether it is something i could leave in the laptop permanantly or have to connect each time i want to listen to music?

Chris says:
The Transmitter is Pictured in the main product image (click on the image for a larger view) and the dimensions and a diagram of the product are shown on the full details page.

peter Crayfourd asks: (2008-01-06 21:04:14)
hi, i recently purchased your speakers and i'm experiencing a clicking noise with the light going red on a regular basis. I have tried all three settings on the transmitter and still get the same issue. any ideas?
Chris says:
It sounds like the input volume is not loud enough - the transmitter will switch off automatically if there is no input, or it is too quiet to be transmitted correctly. Try turning the volume up on your audio device.
If you continue to have problems, please phone or e-mail us for more help.

FMH asks: (2008-01-01 14:44:42)
I am getting a 50Hz mains hum on both speakers whether in battery mode or mains mode and have attempted to isolate all electrical equipment to remedy the problem but with no success. Is this an absence of an earth problem?
Chris says:
The earth has nothing to do with humming or interference on the mains, it is there to provide an outlet for potentially high voltages, should something go awry in a mains-voltage appliance. the earth cable can occasionally transport a noise from a poorly constructed appliance, but the lack of connection in this instance would reduce, rather than increase the chance that your speakers would be affected by this.
if you were using the speakers with the mains power supplies, and only one was showing the problem, my first thought would be a bad power supply - however, if the problem is also occurring when using batteries, then it is more likely that there is a power supply problem with another appliance - possibly near the transmitter or the audio device you have the speakers connected to.

I HAVE JUST PURCHASED THE AQ WIRELESS SPEAKER SYSTEM AND WANT TO CONNECT IT TO A BOSE 321 SYSTEM, THE PROBLEM IS THERE IS NO AUDIO OUT OR HEADPHONE SOCKETS, IF IT'S POSSIBLE IV WOULD LIKE TO USE THESE SPEAKERS ASWELL AS THE EXISTING BOSE SPEAKERS
Chris says:
You need an audio output of some sort to connect these speakers to.
the Goodmans Transmitter Mate can be used to connect to a standard speaker-level output.

Can I play my I pod through the sound system on my TV,which is connected by a docking station through an A/V cable and use these speakers at the same time to give a home cinema surround sound feel.
Chris says:
You cold connect the speakers to whatever audio output you like. If you have a stereo input, your result would still be stereo, albeit from two different places.
A Baker asks: (2007-11-07 22:21:35)
May be a daft question but would these speakers be compatable with and/or recommended for use with ipod?
Chris says:
If your iPod has a headphone socket, then you can connect the speakers.
One of the main features of the AQ Wireless speakers is that you can connect them to almost any audio device, all you need is a headphone socket (or a line level output). You could even connect the transmitter to most iPod docking stations (assuming it has an audio output connector) to enable easy charging whilst you listen.

We've just bought our first PC and are loading our CD collection onto the Vista Media Centre. The PC is in a spare room though, so what can we do wirelessly to get the use of our music in other parts of the house and still be able to listen at the keyboard?

Chris says:
You could connect as many sets of our wireless speakers as you want to the same transmitter, so you can listen to music throughout the house.

Matt M asks: (2007-08-24 09:44:15)
Hi there. I would like to use 2 sets of speakers off one home cinema receiver. One pair as rear speakers using a tranmitter mate, and another pair in a different room to listen to music at different times. Should I use two transmitters - one plugged into the transmitter mate for the rear speakers and one plugged into the audio out phono sockets? Or can I use one transmitter and plug in from the two sources? I won't want to use both pairs of speakers at the same time.
Thanks
Chris says:
You can either use one transmitter, and connect it to the source you want to listen to, or use two transmitters and leave them connected, switching the power on to the one you want to use.

HI I RECENTLY PURCHASED THE AQ WIRELESS SPEAKERS I WAS SURPRISINLY IMPRESSED, BUT THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT THE SPEAKERS DONT SEEM TO BE NSYNC WITH THE TV IS THIS A PROBLEM YOU HAVE HEARD OF????
Chris says:
There are several possibilities for the delay.
As with any wireless device, there will be a slight delay between the direct sound and the signal which is transmitted, this is caused by the processing ant transmission/reception of the signal.
If you are using a separate video device (EG DVD, Digital or SKY box, you may be connecting further back in the chain, so the audio would be processed separately by the TV and wireless speakers, which may change the delay.

Dave asks: (2007-07-26 12:32:22)
Hi,
How can I get my wireless speakers working with my LCD TV. They work fine by plugging in the phono jack from the transmiter to the earphone socket on teh TV, however it seems to override the main TV speaker. Is there a way that I can have both the TV and wireless speakers functioning at the same time?
Chris says:
If you have a Line OUT on your TV, you can connect the speakers to that, earphone sockets generally do cut off the sound to any built-in speakers.
If you have a scart socket on your TV, you may be able to use a scart adaptor (see bottom of page for details of this product)

Kate asks: (2007-06-23 12:22:53)
Hi, I have these speakers working great in a separate room from PC. However, I don't now have anywhere to connect the original pc speakers so that I can listen when at the keyboard. Any ideas, other than buying another set of speakers? Thanks
Nigel says:
You could buy a headphone splitter. This will enable you to have both your transmitter and another set of speakers linked up at the same time. You can buy one from the Wireless Accessories Page on the website for £2.95.

I would like to use my existing speakers, 2 in one room and 2 in another. Do you have a system which would allow me to do this wirelessly?

If you have speakers which require connecting to an amplifier, you can send an audio signal using a transmitter, for example the Oono Transmita.

Dan asks: (2007-06-11 12:21:04)
Quite confused by all the great reviews...everyone says the sound is great, but are they not only 3 watts? I might as well stay with my laptop sound hehe. Have I got this right?
Chris says:
The speaker power is about 3 watts (5 watt max).
However, the speakers are sensitive, wattage is a power input figure, rather than a sound output figure, and is an indication of the amount of power a speaker uses; Wireless speakers using, say 50 watts of power may sound a little better, but would use a set of batteries every minute, which isn't exactly convenient.
Based on a power usage of 3 watts, these speakers sound excellent, and will almost certainly have a much better sound than the built-in speakers in your laptop.

I have a wireless burglar alarm and my broadband router operating in my house. Would your wireless speaker system interfer with them (and vice versa)

Chris says:
The wireless router uses a totally different frequency to these speakers, so that would not cause a problem.
I don't know about the burglar alarm, It should only cause a probem if it is on the same frequency.

tom mansel asks: (2007-05-23 13:28:15)
Hi there, I've just bought a TEAC mini hi fi system. Will I need to buy the Goodmans RF Transmitter Mate in order to make the AQ wireless speakers work at the same time as the main speakers? Would I need to plug the AQs into the Aux Out?
Thanks
Tom
Chris says:
The Transmitter can be conneted directly to the headphone or line output sockets on any audio system. Generally speaking, the headphone socket is the only one which will affect the operation of the existing speakers.
The Transmitter Mate allows you to connect directly to the speaker output of a Hi-Fi amp.

Hi
I've just bought 4 sets of wireless speakers to go with my Pure DMX60 - how do I use the stereo speakers as well?
As I've connected the wireless ones to the headphone socket they don't work any longer!
Am I being totally dense or have I just bought a new stereo and now have two useless boxes for decoration ?!?
Cheers
Philippa
Nigel says:
You need to connect the transmitter to the phono output sockets on the rear of the stereo using the phono adaptor(red/white) included in the speaker box. This will then allow sound from the main speakers.
Anneke asks: (2007-04-12 16:17:19)
Do these speakers have a separate volume control? i.e., can I plug them into my hi-fi/computer where the volume is turned right down and still have reasonable volume coming through the speakers in another room?
Chris says:
The speakers do have a built-in volume control. This can be used to provide independant volume control if the transmitter is connected to a line level output, which most hi-fis and some computers do use.
As the volume is controlled on the speaker, you can use more than one set of wireless speakers and operate them at different volumes at the same time.
Martin says:
Yes, the speakers have a volume control on the side of it so the speakers can be used at different volume levels.

Patrick O'Connell asks: (2007-04-07 12:28:32)
I wish to use a pair of AQ Wireless speakers with my AV receiver in Spain, primarily to act as surround sound rear speakers where all 4 speakers are on at the same time. In addition , if possible, I would like the ability to use one speaker on the roof terrace ..... what is the best way to setup the surround system please ? Do I need a Transmitter mate ? I have a Pioneer VSX C100 AV receiver where the surround speakers are hard wire connections not phone. Many thanks.
Chris says:
If you need to connect the Wireless speakers to a speaker output, for example in a surround-sound setup where there are no line output connections available, you can use a Transmitter Mate.
If you want to use a single speaker, for example to take outside, you can switch the transmitter to Mono mode, so that you don't have to choose between the left or right.

Daryl asks: (2007-04-02 09:35:47)
What's the wattage of the speakers and what their physical dimensions.

* Transmitter: 30 x 133 x 90mm (HxWxD)
and the wattage is between 3-5watts

Hugh asks: (2007-03-24 21:22:43)
Hi -
I have a Creative 5500 5.1 sound system, cheap & cheerful but it does the job for my smallish room except I can't stand the wires. Replacing the rears with your wireless units may well be the solution I'm looking for but I'm not certain about connectivity. The Creative speakers actually connect to twin phonos on the subwoofer, which in turn is connected to a control unit with 3.5mm connectors. I suspect that the phonos on the sub are actually high level outputs and therefore unsuitable for connecting the AQ transmitter. However I should think I could connect the transmitter to the 3.5 control unit outputs, and not bother with the outputs on the sub. Do you have any experience of this sort of setup? Thanks.
Martin says:
Adapters are included to allow to you connect the transmitter to 3.5mm and 1/4inch jacks as well as phono out.

terry saunders asks: (2007-03-08 16:00:52)
hi,is there a way i can use these speakers in one room, and the wired speakers on my stereo system in another room simultaneously,if i have a bi-wired system?
Chris says:
If you have a bi-wired system, you cannot connect these speakers to the speaker outputs using a transmitter mate, however you would still be able to use them with a line output, or the headphone jack.
The headphone socket usually cuts off the sound from the Hi-Fi's speakers, but using a line output should not cause any problems.
terry saunders asks: (2007-03-08 08:56:18)
hi i have a sony nw-a3000 mp3 player can the transmitter be plugged into the headphone socket and then would the speakers become active without the need for an amp?also are the speakers loud enough for a large room filled with people at a party? thanks
Chris says:
Certainly to the first part, the transmitter can be connected to any headphone socket.
The speakers can be fairly loud, but then again so can people. The speakers would be fine in any normal-sized room.
If you need more sound, You can always add an extra pair of speakers at any time.
Mike S asks: (2007-02-28 12:45:07)

The deluxe version has a much higher quality finish.
There is no difference in the sound quailty.
Mike S asks: (2007-02-28 12:42:21)

The speakers can be hung onto the wall via two screw holes. They can also stand. The mains cable for the speakers is 180cm long.
Nick Bannister asks: (2006-09-26 16:42:06)
Try again....I live in an old house with two feet thick stone walls. As my hi-fi is in one room and I want to use the speakers in another, will I have problems with the signal?
Also, I read earlier somebody saying that there was little or no bass with these speakers. Is that the case?
Nigel says:
The tested range through brick walls is 30m. I woul dbe happy to allow you to purchase the speakers and if not suitable you can return them. Subject to being re saleable. As for the Bass quality it is true that they are not sub woofer quality however there is bass present and the sound is clear and plenty loud enough.

Mike Bergmeijer asks: (2006-05-30 22:48:51)
When I connect the AQ speakers to my iPod, the transmitter loses poower every once and a while, which then leads to an interruption of the music, of course. Very annoying! This happens even when I run the iPod off the mains. Any reason why this might be, other than that the technology is faulty? Any suggestions how to avoid this?
Nigel says:
The most likely solution is that the iPod volume isn't sufficient. To save power, when there is no input, the transmitter will automatically switch off. If the iPod or the music on it is very quiet, the transmitter may not detect the input, and therefore switch off after a couple of minutes. to solve your problem, all you need to do is turn the volume on the iPod up a bit. the speaker volume control can then be used to turn the sound level down if it is too loud.

Tim Mason asks: (2006-01-17 11:04:13)
My amplifier has bare speaker wire clamps as opposed to speaker cable sockets. How do the wireless speakers connect to my existing amp with my existing speakers already there? Do I need a gadget of some sort!?
Sam says:
Tim, you will need a Speaker Lead to Phono Adaptorr, this will allow you to play both the wireless speakers and the stereo speakers at the same time.
Jamie asks: (2006-01-04 13:24:20)
Do these speakers work with a Bose Wave CD player - will i need a Speaker Leads to Phono Adaptor?
What is the new approximate delivery time on these now?
cheers
Sam says:
Jamie, These speakers can work with anything that has a headphone socket or phono sockets. You would need to buy the Speaker Leads to Phono Adaptor if you wanted to listen to both the wireless speakers and the stereo speakers, and you do not have phono sockets. If you already have phono sockets that will also allow you to listen to both, and you do not need the adaptor.
We now have stock of the speakers.

Georgia Brown asks: (2005-12-02 13:33:31)
Can you hang these speakers on the wall without a separate mount?
Sam says:
Georgia, Yes you can hang these on the walls, without a mount, there are 2 cut outs on the back of the speakers, they enable them to be walled mounted, by hooking on to screws in a wall.
Neil Woodhouse asks: (2005-11-28 22:10:02)
How long do the batteries last for? For example on continoues play?
Chris says:
Neil
A very difficult question to answer since it depends on the volume and battery quality. If you intend to use them permanentlly - for example around the house then plugging them in using the supplied AC adaptor is preferable. on the other hand, using them outside for a BBQ or similar, then the battery option is better. Good quality batteries at reasonable sound volumes for ana hour or two each day should last for about a week.
Bert asks: (2005-11-19 22:23:57)
Can I connect the transmitter to my PC ?

Bert, Certainly - just use the headphone socket on the PC or the twin phono outputs - adaptors are included for both.
John Lavender asks: (2005-11-18 13:26:08)
Hi, I'm also trying to use a pair of these as the rear speakers of a 5.1 Surround Sound TV. The TV (Toshiba) has red/black wire clamps for each set of external speakers. Will I have to remove the jack plug from the sender unit and bare the wires or is there an easier/tidier option?
Sam says:
John, you can't drive the transmitter unit directly from the loudspeaker outputs as the signal levels will be far to high.
We can supply a small interface unit that has bared leads for connecting to the loudspeaker output terminals and has two phono sockets that will ouput the left and right signals to the transmitter unit via a supplied connnecting lead.

Martin Skinner asks: (2005-10-25 22:07:38)

Lorraine Boyle asks: (2005-10-24 18:03:27)
I am buying an iPod to use as my main music system - I like the idea of wireless, but what do I need to do to have one speaker in one room and another speaker in other room functioning from iPod?
Pete says:
Lorraine,
From personal experience I know that the iPod works really well with these speakers, and its really easy to setup and manage.
Your iPod can be plugged directly into the transmitter via the 3.5mm headphone socket that comes with the transmitter. Then you just need to position your speakers wherever you want them. As the audio signal is sent wirelessly you can place them in different rooms and still hear your iPod.
By purchasing Extra Speakers (if needed) you can add sound throughout your home from your iPod. The transmitter can transmit to as many sets of speakers as you need.
Mike Wright asks: (2005-10-17 14:33:15)
Would these be suitable for a LCD TV and how would they connect
Pete says:
Mike,
We have found a scart adaptor that can handle the output of sound to the transmitter. We will shortly be offering for sale online - but in the mean time if anyone is interested in such a device please email us for more details.
Brian Coady asks: (2005-10-06 10:04:33)
How does the transmitter plug into/connect to the audio source.
Pete says:
The transmiter connects to the source via a 3.5mm jack - which can plug into a headphone socket or a line out (if the line out is suitable - line outs can vary).
ALSO, the transmitter can connect to the Phono out via included adaptors. ie splitting the 3.5mm plug into 2 (left and right) phono plugs.
ALSO, there is an adaptor included to plug into a 1/4inch headphone socket.
Stephen asks: (2005-10-04 21:20:00)
Can I link multiple speaker sets to a single transmitter? TIA
Pete says:
Yes. As long as all of the speakers are within range of the transmitter and tuned in to it correctly - you can use multiple sets of speakers with one transmitter.
