The Revo Pico Wi-Fi uses the Reciva technology, so a custom station list can be created from the Reciva website - all you need to do is set up a free account. It isn't quite as easy to access as the pre-sets, but it does ensure you don't need to go searching for your favourite stations.

The main delay when switching the radio on would be connecting to the network and loading the station. This will be similar with all radios of this type, the speed of your network/internet connection may make a difference.

Many Wi-Fi radios include the on-demand services, such as the Listen Again features from the BBC, so many programs are available to listen to for a week or more.

The preset buttons are a hardware feature on the remote control, you cannot add more with a firmware update.

You do have the option of a customisable favourites list, which can contain as many stations as you want. To create or edit your favourites list, visit the Reciva website and register your radio with a free account.

There are many possible causes of buffering pauses in internet radio, here are the major ones, in no particular order.

* Your internet connection is too slow: This is unlikely if you have broadband, however if you are running other programs on your computer(s) which are using internet bandwidth, this could reduce the speed that is available to the radio.

* The radio is too far away from the router: When you move further away from the router, the amount of errors increases, so re-sending the data to correct the errors takes longer, resulting in re-buffering. A small amount of errors are always expected, which is why the radio buffers a bit before it starts playing. If there are too many errors, the radio stops when it runs out of audio to play from the buffer until it has more to play.

* The internet is too slow: Sometimes, especially at peak times (e.g. evening), the amount of people connecting to the internet in one place is too great for everyone to get full speed. This is especially notable when you are trying to listen to a station which is hosted abroad, as there is a finite amount of data that can be transmitted between countries over the network.

* the server where the radio is broadcast from is slow/busy: The radio connects directly to the radio station's website to stream the audio, after getting the location from the Reciva server. If there are lots of people trying to listen to the radio station, it my not be able to upload the audio fast enough to everyone's radio. There has been a substantial rise in the number of internet radios like this available, and many of the smaller radio stations don't have the capacity for the number of users who are tuning in over the internet.

Yes, this can be done using the remote control. There are 5 presets for Wi-Fi and 5 presets for FM.

It isn't bypassed, If you have security enabled on your wireless network, you will need to enter the key into the radio before it will be allowed to connect.

The radio stores the key, so you only have to enter it the first time you attempt to connect, unless you reset the radio or change/delete the key.

If the radio connects to the network you selected without asking for a key, the network doesn't have any security enabled.

The battery life of this is 8hrs and it has a 2hr charge time

This is a well built unit and it is very sturdy. The Pico is mono sound as it uses only the one speaker that is built into it, however the headphones are stereo.

If the battery power runs out, simply connect the battery to the mains to charge it.

if you are referring to when the Ni-MH battery reaches the end of its usable life, it is possible to get a replacement from the manufacturer.

The distance which a Wi-fi signal reaches will depend on a lot of things, for example, the transmission strength, which may vary depending on the make and model of the router. The number of walls and the material they are made of and even the humidity can have some affect the effective distance of a wi-fi system.

The longest line-of-sight distance we can get using our router is about 50 metres.

The Pico Wi-Fi doesn't have any alarm functions I'm afraid, so this also rules out a sleep timer.
