James asks: (2010-10-27 19:08:54)
Does the SS22 daisychain in series, ie the signal is travelling along both sets of wires in a big loop. If so should you use ther same wire for both sets of speakers? Thanks |
|
Nigel says:
no, this switch is left and right channel. |

I wish to connect 2 pairs of 6 ohm speakers to a Cambridge A5 amp. I want to be able to listen to both pairs. Is the SS22 the correct switch and is there any risk of damage to either the speakers or the amp? |
|
Chris says:
The SS22 is acceptable for that purpose. there should be no harm to the speakers or amplifier form using this switch.

Ken Ward asks: (2009-04-14 12:57:53)
Is there a way of connecting two speaker outputs to one pair of speakers using a switching box. This would allow me to listen to two sources through one pair of speakers (obviously one source at a time) Thanks Ken |
|
Chris says:
It would be a lot easier to switch the sources using an A/V switcher and use the same amplifier for both sources, assuming you don't have an amplifier which has more than one input. A speaker switch is not suitable for switching two amplifiers.

hi, my amp is rated at 6 ohm output, and i want to connect one pair of 6 ohm speakers and one pair of 8 ohm speakers, and have the option of listening to both pairs. would any of the qed switches be suitable? |
|
Chris says:
The SS22 would be fine for this. |

Hi, I have a Denon AV receiver with speaker rated 6 ohm. The receiver has an output of 6-16 ohm. I would like to add a further pair of speakers in my kitchen - probably rated 8 ohm. There is a front A+B option but it would seem that I can't use this as my speaker combinations will be too low an impedence? Would the QED SS22 switch your stock solve the problem ie allow me to have both front A + B on at the same time? Grateful for your help. |
|
Chris says:
Most systems use separate amplifiers for an A/B setup, so there would be no need to count the speakers together, you may need to check your manual for information on your particular model, however.

paul asks: (2007-09-26 11:12:36)
does the box enable you to switch each pair on speakers on or off and control the volume independantly? |
|
Chris says:
The speaker switch will allow you to switch speakers on and off. If you also want volume control, you will need a volume control for each pair of speakers. |

Paul asks: (2007-09-09 14:53:18)
Can i connect this to a tv that has stereo jack connectors as I want to then install speakers in each of my bathrooms? |
|
Chris says:
You could connect this to any speaker output, providing you have the right connecting cables.

Hi, I am running 4 speakers from a cambridge audio 640 stereo amp. I want to add another 2 speakers (8 ohm) which I may or may not run at the same time a the other 4. Is that safe to do using a speaker switcher ? Can one get switches which have a built in amp (a bit like the incognito system but cheaper !) ? Alok |
|
Chris says:
We would always recommend the safest way to connect more than one set of speakers to any amp is to use a speaker switch.

Hi I have an amp (shows 6 ohm minimum on speaker out) I have two pairs of 6 ohm speakers(one pair outdoors, one pair indoors) I want to switch between the two pairs I dont want to use both pairs together Please could you advise if i need the 'series' or 'parallel' switch If either is suitable Thanks |
|
Martin says:
Either switch will be fine if you are not having both sets on at once. If you want both sets on at once, the parallel switch will be fine. |

Aykut Hilmi asks: (2007-06-21 16:46:31)
I have 6 speakers running from my surround sound amp in my living room and wan't to also connect outside speakers to it. Would it be okay to use a speaker switch (which One?) than a seperate amp and would I lose the surround sound of the inside speakers if I do this? |
|
Martin says:
We would reccomend using a seperate amp when connecting external speakers.

David Gravil asks: (2007-02-28 09:10:57)
Hi, have you a switch that would allow me to connect 2 amplifiers to 1 set of speakers (powered by 1 amp at a time)? Thanks David |
|
Chris says:
We would strongly reccomend against doing this, if both amps were accidentally connected at the same time, you would be likely to blow up both amps, and probably damage the speakers as well.

Mark Wright asks: (2006-07-27 06:51:45)
Hi, I need to purchase a speaker switch - my amp has one set of speaker outputs rated 8 - 16ohm and the two sets of speakers are rated 4 - 8 ohm - not sure whether need a series or paallel swith from QED - would the SS20 or SS22 be the correct option. Want to be able to have both sets of speakers on or juts one set. Also, would I be able to collecf from you? Thanks Mark |
|
Nigel says:
The SS22 is the best option for your situation. |
